TOURNAMENT ANNOUNCES FULL PLAYER FIELD
TRAVELERS RELEASES FULL LIST OF COMPETITORS FOR 2010 TOURNAMENT
CROMWELL, Conn., June 19, 2010 – The Travelers Championship will be held June 21 -27 at TPC River Highlands, and will feature one of the most exciting and competitive player fields that the event has experienced. Golf fans have much to look forward to on the course when competition begins among some of the world’s best golfers, including 11 players who are Major Champions; 31 players who have won PGA TOUR events in the past two years; eleven of the Top 30 on the current PGA TOUR FedExCup standings and 20 players in the Top 50 on the 2010 PGA TOUR Official Money List. Collectively, the player field has 276 PGA TOUR victories.
Most recent commitments to the field include 2003 British Open Champion Ben Curtis, three-time PGA TOUR winner Chris DiMarco, who is 26th on the PGA TOUR career money list; three-time PGA TOUR winner Brian Gay; and Kevin Na, who is currently 55th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
“We’re pleased to welcome back some of the world’s most exciting golfers like Hunter Mahan, Padraig Harrington, John Daly, Rickie Fowler and our defending champion, Kenny Perry, and we are also pleased to see some new players for our fans, such as Adam Scott and Retief Goosen,” said Tournament Director Nathan Grube. “This player field will ensure a very exciting week at TPC River Highlands, and when you combine that with all the additional fan experiences on course, the result is definitely a world-class event that the entire community can enjoy.”
The 156-player field has six remaining spots, which will be filled by four Open Qualifiers and two Sponsor Exemptions. The Travelers Championship Open Qualifier will be held at Gillette Ridge Golf Club in Bloomfield, Conn., on Monday, June 21.

Prior to the competition rounds, Travelers Championship action begins on Wednesday, June 23 when Hollywood stars and sports legends tee it up in the Travelers Celebrity Pro-Am. Participating celebrities include singer/songwriter Michael Bolton, Olympic gold medal skier Bode Miller, actors Joe Pesci, John O’Hurley, Rob Morrow and James Naughton, ESPN personalities Chris Berman and Karl Ravech, New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick, Baseball Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith, two-time Olympic gold medal gymnast Shannon Miller, former New England Patriots Quarterback Doug Flutie, University of Connecticut Head Basketball Coach Jim Calhoun, University of Connecticut Football Coach Randy Edsall and University of Connecticut Associate Head Coaches George Blaney and Chris Dailey.
In addition to the Travelers Celebrity Pro-Am, the 2010 Travelers Championship will also feature Military Appreciation presented by Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Farmington Bank Fan and Family Day, Golf Digest Junior Pro-Am, Women’s Day presented by Travelers, Michelob ULTRA 19th Hole Concert Series on Friday and Saturday night and the Subway Fan Zone, which will feature the new Farmington Bank Kids Zone, Chalone wine garden, dining areas and more.
The Travelers Championship will be televised domestically and internationally. The first and second rounds will be broadcast live on Golf Channel and the third and fourth rounds will be broadcast live on CBS.
