HARTFORD, Conn., May 24, 2023 – Viktor Hovland and Tommy Fleetwood will play in the 2023 Travelers Championship. Hovland is a three-time PGA TOUR winner who is No. 6 in the Official World Golf Ranking, while Fleetwood has won six times on the DP World Tour. It will be the third tournament appearance for both.

“Our player field is really taking shape and is certainly helped by commitments from Viktor and Tommy,” said Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube. “This will be the best, deepest field we’ve ever had, so fans are encouraged to get their tickets early to guarantee they won’t miss any of this world-class PGA TOUR action.”

Hovland and Fleetwood join a tournament field that features Scottie Scheffler (No. 1 in the OWGR), Jon Rahm (No. 2), Rory McIlroy (No. 3), Patrick Cantlay (No. 4), defending champion Xander Schauffele (No. 5), Max Homa (No. 7), Tony Finau (No. 12), Justin Thomas (No. 15), Cameron Young (No. 16) and Collin Morikawa (No. 17).

Viktor Hovland made his professional debut at the Travelers Championship in 2019. He tied for second last week at the PGA Championship, his best finish in a major. He also tied for third at THE PLAYERS Championship this year and was T7 at the Masters. His PGA TOUR victories have come at the 2020 Puerto Rico Open, and at the Mayakoba Golf Classic in 2020 and 2021. Hovland is the first Norwegian to win a tournament on the PGA TOUR. He played on Team Europe at the Ryder Cup in 2021 and halved two matches, including one when he was paired with Fleetwood.

Tommy Fleetwood’s most recent victory on the DP World Tour was at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in 2022, a tournament he also won in 2019. Fleetwood has had several strong major championship performances in his career, including second-place finishes at The Open Championship in 2019 and at the U.S. Open in 2018. He tied for fourth at The Open Championship in 2022 and was solo fourth at the U.S. Open in 2017. Internationally, the Englishman earned Ryder Cup selections in both 2018 and 2021. He is No. 23 in this week’s OWGR.

“This is exciting because we gave Viktor a sponsor’s exemption in 2019 and we’ve watched as he and Tommy have been successful around the world,” said Andy Bessette, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at Travelers. “They’re also two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. They’re perfect additions to this year’s player field, and it will be fun to watch them compete.”
