TONY FINAU ADDED TO 2023 TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD

TONY FINAU ADDED TO 2023 TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD

HARTFORD, Conn., April 18, 2023 – Tony Finau, currently No. 16 in the Official World Golf Ranking, will play in the 2023 Travelers Championship. It will be the eighth appearance at TPC River Highlands for Finau, a five-time PGA TOUR winner.

“Tony has been one of the best players on the PGA TOUR throughout his career, and we’re thrilled that he’ll be joining us this year,” said Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube. “With the field continuing to build and featuring more of the top TOUR players like Tony, we’re encouraging fans to get their tickets early since certain tournament days and hospitality venues could sell out.”

Finau joins Scottie Scheffler (No. 2), Rory McIlroy (No. 3), Patrick Cantlay (No. 4), defending champion Xander Schauffele (No. 5), Collin Morikawa (No. 13) and Justin Thomas (No. 14) in the Travelers Championship player field.

Finau’s most recent TOUR victory came earlier this season at the Cadence Bank Houston Open, which was his third win in a span of seven starts. He has two other top-10 finishes on the season already and currently sits in 10th place in the FedExCup standings. Heading into the Masters Tournament, he had completed every TOUR event with a final score of 2-under-par or better since the 2022 Travelers Championship.

Finau earned his first TOUR victory in 2016 at the Puerto Rico Open. His other wins have come at THE NORTHERN TRUST in 2021, and the Rocket Mortgage Classic and 3M Open, both in 2022. As a member of two Ryder Cup teams (2018, 2021) and two Presidents Cup teams (2019, 2022) he’s helped the United States go 3-1.

“Tony has consistently supported our tournament by playing here frequently, and we’ve been able to build a great relationship with him and his family,” said Andy Bessette, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at Travelers. “Our goal is to create an experience that the best players in the world, like Tony, and golf fans do not want to miss. Together, we’re able to have a positive effect on our state and hundreds of charities.”
