SCOTT, HOWELL AND DAVIS COMMIT TO PLAY
ADAM SCOTT, HOWELL III AND BRIAN DAVIS ADDED TO STRONG PLAYER FIELD
CROMWELL, Conn., June 7, 2010 – The Travelers Championship announces three more exciting commitments to the 2010 player field. Adam Scott, Charles Howell III and Brian Davis will all be at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn. when the tournament begins two weeks from today. Scott will be making his first appearance at the Travelers Championship, while Howell and Davis will be competing for a sixth time.
“We are very excited to announce the addition of three more top players to our field,” said Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube. “Having Adam Scott play in his first Travelers Championship and Charles Howell III competing in the event for the first time since Travelers became a title sponsor, speaks volumes for the growth of our event. Also, having Brian Davis who has two runner-up finishes in 2010 only adds to the strength of our field.”
Australian Adam Scott, winner of the 2010 Valero Texas Open, has seven career victories on the PGA TOUR and is currently ranked 22nd in the FedExCup standings. Scott became the youngest winner ever of THE PLAYERS Championship in 2004 at the age of 23.
Two-time PGA TOUR winner and 2001 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year Charles Howell III has earned three top-10 finishes in 2010, with his best finish being a tie for fourth at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in late-February. Howell has made 11 of 14 cuts this season and is currently ranked 41st in the FedExCup standings.
Currently ranked 26th in the FedExCup standings, Brian Davis has earned two runner-up finishes in 2010, with the most notable occurring at the Verizon Heritage in April. Davis finished second behind Jim Furyk after calling a penalty on himself during the first playoff hole.
These three players join a rapidly growing player field that already includes Kenny Perry, Stewart Cink, Hunter Mahan, Vijay Singh, Rickie Fowler, Justin Rose, David Toms and John Daly. The Travelers Championship is the PGA TOUR’s only early summer stop in the Northeast and will be held June 21 – 27, 2010, at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn.
