ROSE WINS $10,000 FOR CHARITY
JUSTIN ROSE WINS CLOSEST TO THE PIN ON THE UMBRELLA AT 15½
Cromwell, Conn., June 23, 2010 – Twenty-nine of 106 players participating in a practice round Tuesday for the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands landed a ball on The Umbrella at 15 ½, the 40-foot wide floating green shaped like the Travelers umbrella logo.
Travelers donated $10,000 to the Central Florida Children’s Home on behalf of Justin Rose who recorded the closest shot to the pin at 4 ½ inches.
“My wife Kate and I have had a close relationship with the Central Florida Children’s Home for about three years and this donation of $10,000, kindly made possible by Travelers, will go a long way to help them continue to provide great care, shelter and education for these children,” said Rose. “It has been increasingly difficult for the Central Florida Children’s Home over recent times to make ends meet. I know they will be delighted with this surprise donation.”
