JUSTIN ROSE EARNS FIRST TOUR VICTORY

TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP EARLY COMMITMENT ROSE CLAIMS FIRST TOUR VICTORY

CROMWELL, Conn., June 6, 2010 – Justin Rose won the Memorial Tournament presented by Morgan Stanley to earn his first-ever PGA TOUR victory. Rose who has committed to the 2010 Travelers Championship shot a final round 66 to win over PGA TOUR rookie Rickie Fowler, who also will be playing at TPC River Highlands in three weeks.

“This was a great weekend for our event,” said Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube. “It was great to see Justin Rose win for the first time on the PGA TOUR and we’re excited to see seven other committed players finish at the top of the leaderboard on Sunday.”

Justin Rose, now a six-time winner internationally, moved to 13th in the 2010 FedExCup standings. Before the win today, his best finish was third at The Honda Classic in February where he tied the course record with a 64 in his final round. Rose was a member of the 2008 European Ryder Cup team and won the 2007 Order of Merit on the European Tour.

PGA TOUR rookie Rickie Fowler held the 54-hole tournament lead heading into Sunday, but finished with a final round 73 to finish in second behind Rose. Fowler’s runner-up finish was his best on the PGA TOUR since his second place finish at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. The 21-year-old sensation has five top-ten finishes in 2010 and will be making his second trip to the Travelers Championship.

In addition to Rose and Fowler, the tournament will also welcome new additions Bo Van Pelt, Ryan Moore and Tim Petrovic into the 2010 player field. Van Pelt shot a final round 69 on Sunday to finish tied for third at the Memorial Tournament, earning him his fifth top-10 finish of the season. Moore finished tied for fifth for his third top-10 finish of 2010. Connecticut’s own Tim Petrovic finished tied for fifth alongside Moore and has two top-10 finishes in the last four events. Van Pelt will be making his eighth trip and Moore his fifth to TPC River Highlands, while Petrovic will be playing in front of the hometown crowd for a 15th time.

Three other Travelers Championship early commitments finished in the top 10, including Ricky Barnes (T3), Matt Kuchar (T8) and 2008 Champion Stewart Cink (T8).

Ricky Barnes earned his best finish of the year and is currently ranked 29th in the FedExCup standings. He has five top-10 finishes and has made 13 of 16 cuts this season. Barnes will be making his second trip to Cromwell this summer.

Currently ranked 11th in the FedExCup standings, Matt Kuchar continued his strong play during the Memorial Tournament. He has finished in the top-15 on six different occasions in 2010, including a tie for second at the Bob Hope Classic and a pair of third place finishes at the SBS Championship and the World Golf Championships-CA Championship.

Six-time PGA TOUR winner and defending British Open champion, Stewart Cink will make his 12th appearance at the Travelers Championship. Already he has had a successful 2010 campaign, highlighted by reaching the quarter finals at the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship.

The Travelers Championship is the PGA TOUR’s only early summer stop in the Northeast and will be held June 21 – 27, 2010, at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn. A complete schedule of tournament events and ticket information is available at TravelersChampionship.com.
