DAY FOUR OF THE TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP

DAY FOUR OF THE TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP

Day 4 at TC

Thursday marked the first day of competition at the 2013 Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut.  Spectators came out in the thousands to watch their favorite players in action. In addition to kicking off the official competition, yesterday was also the fifth annual Women’s Day sponsored by Travelers, and Caddy Appreciation Day.

More than 500 women participated in the Women’s Day presented by Travelers, which included breakfast, an onstage cooking lesson by award-winning chef Ming Tsai, and a discussion/fashion presentation from Deirdre Quinn, New York president and co-founder of Lafayette 148.

At the end of the first day of competition, Charley Hoffman took the lead at nine under. Hoffman had two eagles and three birdies in route to a back nine 28, so far the lowest score on TOUR this year.  Hunter Mahan finished at eight under and Bubba Watson is currently in third at seven under.

There are plenty of other players that are in the mix as well. Defending Champion Marc Leishman opened with a 66, while US Open Champion Justin Rose shot 67. Currently there are seventeen players within five shots of the lead.
