DAY 4 RECAP
Cromwell, Conn., June 19, 2014 – Round One of the 2014 Travelers Championship is in the books and Brendan Steele is our leader at –8 after an opening round 62. Joining Steele at the top of the leaderboard are Ryan Moore and Bud Cauley at –7. The day was full of exciting action with 13 eagles and the tournament’s first recorded albatross, as 2008 Masters Champion Trevor Immelman holed his 246-yard second shot on the par 5 13th hole.
Additional highlights included two longtime TOUR professionals who are over the age of 50, Jeff Maggert and Joe Durant, finished with impressive rounds of 64 and are just two strokes off of the lead. Defending champion Ken Duke finished at –5, four strokes better than his first round in 2013.
The featured activity off of the course today was the sixth annual Women’s Day presented by Travelers, which took place in the morning. Over 500 women turned out for the event that featured a networking breakfast, a cooking demonstration featuring celebrity chef Ming Tsai; a discussion with Founder of the Pulitzer Prize-Winning Huffington Post, Arianna Huffington; free tours of the Golf Channel Studios and a free golf clinic.
