LUKE WILSON AND TIM WAKEFIELD TO HOST FARMINGTON BANK CELEBRITY MINI GOLF TOURNAMENT AT THE TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIPadmin
HARTFORD, Conn., August 2, 2016 – The Travelers Championship today announced that actor Luke Wilson and former Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield will host the Farmington Bank Celebrity Mini Golf Tournament on Wednesday, August 3 in the Farmington Bank Kids Zone at TPC River Highlands.
Two waves of three-player teams begin with shotgun starts at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Teams will compete for $2,500 to donate to a charity of their choice. Many holes feature special twists from tournament partners such as LEGO® and The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, making it more challenging for players and exciting for fans, who can view the action from sideline bleachers and a video wall.
Renee DiNino from iHeartMedia Communities will emcee for the fourth year. In addition to Wilson and Wakefield, other celebrities scheduled to participate include actor Dane DeHaan, WWE legend Bob Backlund, local TV and radio personalities and UConn coaches.
“We are grateful that all of the celebrities involved have taken time to participate in this fan-favorite competition,” said Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube. “This competition can mean big money for a charity and gives fans a unique opportunity to watch their favorite local celebrities up close as they go head-to-head in a fun game of mini golf.”
Luke Wilson stars in the Showtime series “Roadies” and has appeared in hit movies such as “Old School,” “The Royal Tenenbaums” and “Legally Blonde.” A longtime friend of The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, Wilson also will be playing in the Travelers Celebrity Pro-Am.
Red Sox Hall of Fame inductee Tim Wakefield played in the major leagues for 19 years. Best known for his knuckleball, Wakefield retired in 2012 with 200 career victories, and helped the Red Sox win World Series titles in 2004 and 2007. Wakefield serves as Honorary Chairman of the Red Sox Foundation and works for NESN as a Red Sox studio analyst, in addition to his role as a celebrity spokesperson and community ambassador for Farmington Bank.

She is the mid-day host on The River 105.9, and is the Director of Community Affairs for iHeartMedia.
