KEN DUKE WINS THE 2013 TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP

Travelers Championship - Final Round

Sunday marked the fourth and final competition round of the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. It was the hottest day of the tournament week and the busiest, with thousands of fans filling every crevice of free space to watch their favorite players compete for the win.

Bubba Watson, Charley Hoffman and Graham DeLaet began the final round tied for the lead at ten under, but by midafternoon Ken Duke and Chris Stroud had made their way up the leaderboard.

Duke finished at 12 under and Stroud hit a chip for birdie to send the competition into a playoff. Stroud and Duke matched each other shot for shot on the first playoff hole. The pair played hole number 18 as the second playoff hole and Duke left his second shot about three feet from the pin, enabling him to birdie the hole and claim the victory.

This is the first PGA Tour win for  44-year-old Duke from Hope, Arkansas.

The championship concluded with ceremonies on the 18th green of the course. Duke, the 2013 Travelers Championship Champion, was awarded the tournament trophy and $1.098 million.

During the ceremony Duke said he was impressed by the amount of money the tournament has raised for several charities and announced he will be donating $25,000 toward charity.

The 2014 Travelers Championship will take place June 16-June 22, 2014.
