HARTFORD, Conn., May 14, 2013 – The Travelers Championship picked up commitments from some of the best golfers on the PGA TOUR, as Rickie Fowler, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Jason Dufner, Fredrik Jacobson and Padraig Harrington have all committed to play the tournament from June 17 to 23. These six golfers are some of the most popular players on the PGA TOUR and add to an already noteworthy field.

“We couldn’t be more excited to announce the commitments of such talented players in Rickie, Lee, Ian, Jason, Freddie and Padraig,” said Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube. “Along with being great golfers, these six individuals are all well known and our fans will be thrilled to see them compete in person. Our competitive field just got a lot stronger with these additions.”

Fan-favorite Rickie Fowler is making his third appearance at the Travelers Championship and first since 2010. Fowler was given a sponsor’s exemption to play TPC River Highlands in 2009, the same year he officially turned professional. In his short career, he has experienced tremendous success, earning one win, five second-place finishes and nearly $10 million in career earnings. This season, Fowler has three top-10 and four top-25 finishes. He’s No. 30 in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) and No. 40 in the FedExCup Standings.

Lee Westwood is making his second appearance at TPC River Highlands and first since 2005. Westwood, who is from England, is regarded as one of the top players on TOUR. With 39 international victories to his credit, Westwood, the former No.1 player in the world, has represented Europe eight times in the Ryder Cup. He has also played well at every major championship, particularly since 2008. In the last five years, he has finished second at the Masters (2010) and Open Championship (2010), and third at the U.S. Open (2008, 2011) and PGA Championship (2009). This season, he has earned five top-10s and seven top-25s – including a tie for eighth at the Masters – in just 10 tournaments. He’s currently No. 11 in the OWGR and No. 29 in the FedExCup Standings.

Ian Poulter will appear at the Travelers Championship for the third time with his best finish coming in 2011, when he tied for 24th. Poulter has 15 international victories, including two World Golf Championship (WGC) wins. He has finished in the top-10 at majors six times, including a 2008 second place finish at The Open Championship, and a tied for third at the PGA Championship last year. He has also represented Europe on the Ryder Cup team four times (where his team won three times). The English golfer has only played seven times on TOUR this season, but still has two top-10 and three top-25 finishes, including a fourth place finish at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. He’s currently No. 15 in the OWGR and No. 71 in the FedExCup Standings.

Jason Dufner is making his fourth appearance at TPC River Highlands and first since 2008. Dufner had a breakthrough season last year, winning twice on TOUR. In his career, Dufner has two wins, four second place and two third place finishes, and has won nearly $13 million in TOUR earnings. This season Dufner has four top-25 finishes, is No. 20 in the OWGR, and No. 76 in the FedExCup Standings. A popular golfer amongst fans, Dufner became a social media sensation for his “Dufnering” photo that went viral last March.

The winner of the 2011 Travelers Championship, Freddie Jacobson is appearing at TPC River Highlands for the fifth time. Jacobson, who hails from Sweden, is having a very productive year, earning a third-place, three top-10, and seven top-25 finishes in nine events. Jacobson plays very well at the Travelers Championship, as he followed up his 2011 win with a tie for eighth in 2012. He is currently No. 38 in the FedExCup Standings, and No. 48 in the OWGR.

Three-time major winner, Padraig Harrington is making his fourth appearance at the Travelers Championship, and third straight. Harrington has played well at TPC River Highlands, finishing tied for fifth in 2010 and tied for 11th last year. The Irish golfer has had a very successful career, winning the Open Championship in 2007 and 2008 in addition to the PGA Championship in 2008. He has five career TOUR wins, six second-place finishes, and more than $22 million in career earnings.
