DAY 6 RECAP
CROMWELL, Conn., June 21, 2012 – The third round of the 2014 Travelers Championship has concluded and our leader is Ryan Moore, who sits at –13 after a round of 66. Moore has a very impressive history at TPC River Highlands, with 12 rounds of 66 or better, second best amongst all players in the field. He finished T-7 in 2013 and was runner-up in 2011 behind champion Freddie Jacobson. Five golfers are within just two strokes of the lead, including, Aaron Baddeley, Sergio Garcia, Michael Putnam, K.J. Choi and second round leader, Scott Langley. Two of the last four champions were six strokes back entering the final round; 24 players are in that position heading into Sunday.
The first four holes of John Daly’s scorecard showed a score of even par, but certainly experienced lows and highs. After carding a quad bogey on Hole 10, Daly followed it up with, birdie, birdie, and finally an eagle at the par-5 13th Hole. Daly ended the round even par, remaining at -2 and T-55. Kevin Streelman netted the low round of the day with a 6-under 64, putting him just four strokes off the lead in a tie for seventh place.
There was also a special press conference, which took place outside the Patriots’ Outpost yesterday involving K9s For Warriors. With the support of Liberty Bank, the K9s For Warriors program will provide a service dog to a deserving local veteran to help them cope with the struggles of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. During the press conference, a veteran spoke of his experience with the K9s For Warriors program and how his service dog changed and saved his life. The Travelers Championship announced that the winning name of the K9s For Warriors service dog will be “Liberty”, earning over 50% of the votes.
