DAY 5 RECAP
Friday, June 26, 2015 – The Travelers Championship second round opened the fifth day of tournament week, with PGA TOUR professionals again teeing off in groups of three.
On a beautiful day at TPC River Highlands, Bubba Watson began with a two-stroke lead after shooting 8-under-par in the first round. He shot 67, leaving him at -11 for the first two rounds of competition and leading by two strokes.
Scott Brown made a run up the leaderboard by making seven birdies total, six consecutively, leaving him tied for third. Currently Brian Harman, Brian Stuard, and Carl Pettersson are tied for second at 9-under-par. Local favorite, Keegan Bradley, remains in contention after firing a 69. Bradley finished the first two rounds at seven under and is tied for eighth. Notable players including Zach Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Gary Woodland, Paul Casey, and others are currently six shots off the lead at 5-under-par.
Friday at the course came to a close with the Powerstation Events Concert Series that featured Dennis DeYoung and the Music of STYX. They kept crowds hanging around after play ended, entertaining fans from the stage in the MetroHartford Alliance Fan Zone. The famous American rock group is known for hits such as “Mr. Roboto”, “Lady”, and “Come Sail Away.”
Tournament attendees can enjoy even more special events tomorrow when the Travelers Championship continues with the third round of competition and the second show of the Powerstation Events Concert Series featuring Bret Michaels.
