DAY 4 RECAP

DAY 4 RECAP

CROMWELL, CONN., June 25, 2015 – The fourth day of the Travelers Championship hosted a variety of exciting events, with a great first round of competition, and some fan-packed events. The PGA TOUR professionals began the tournament with the Travelers Championship First Round, teeing off in pairs of three.

At the end of the first round of the Travelers Championship Bubba Watson had a two-stroke lead, shooting at 8-under-par 62 and 13 players were within three shots. Keegan Bradley, Seung-Yul Noh, Brian Stuard, Harris English, and Jason Gore were all tied for second at six under par.

In an unexpected twist for spectators, PGA TOUR pro Andres Romero landed a hole-in-one on 16, winning a Rolex Watch from Lux Bond & Green, and a year’s worth of mortgage payments from Quicken Loans for one lucky fan that entered the Quicken Loan Sweepstakes.

Thursday was also the seventh annual Women’s Day hosted by Travelers. The events began in the morning with a sold-out networking breakfast attended by more than 700 attendees. The crowd welcomed special guests Martha Stewart, one of the world’s most notable entrepreneurs, and celebrity chef Cat Cora. Cora demonstrated some of her favorite summer dishes while offering the audience advice on cooking to please guests and children. Stewart sat down with Lisa Caputo, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for Travelers, and shared how her business developed into a global brand. Other women’s day activities included a women’s golf clinic at the Practice Facility and tours of the Golf Channel studio.

Local radio host Renee DeNino from The River 105.9 broadcasted live from the course. The show covered the day’s events as well as highlighted local charities largely benefitting the community. Hartford Young Professionals and Entreprenurs (HYPE) also visited the course to honor and raise money for local charities with their special evening reception, HYPE’s Tee it Up for Charity.

The night was capped off with a lively Ventana Al Jazz concert featuring The Leslie Cartaya Quartet, who closed the day’s events playing to fans at the MetroHartford Alliance Fan Zone stage.
