CROMWELL, Conn., June 16, 2014 – The sun was beaming and the crowd was in high spirits this morning as Opening Ceremonies officially kicked off the 2014 Travelers Championship. Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman was among of the list of the morning’s speakers, accompanied by Tournament Director Nathan Grube; Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Travelers, Andy Bessette; and Chief Executive Officer of The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, Jimmy Canton.

The Hole in the Wall Gang camper Luke Duffy and his brother Clay, whom participated in several family weekends at the camp, spoke on how they have each benefited from their experience there. Luke then took the ceremonial first tee shot, which welcomed a roaring round of applause.

A golf clinic hosted by 1953 Champion Bob Toski, who currently serves as Ken Duke’s coach, was held on the practice facility and was open to all Aetna Tournament Players Pro-Am participants, media and the public.

Among the activities taking place tomorrow are Farmington Bank Family Day, Drive, Chip and Putt Local Qualifying, Web.com Small Business Summit presented by the Department of Economic and Community Development, Operation Shower presented by ConnectiCare, Veterans Hiring and Resource Fair presented by Kaman, PGA TOUR Player Experience for Junior Golfers presented by CL&P and Yankee Gas, and the 15 ½ Closest to the Pin contest.
