DAY 1 RECAP

DAY 1 RECAP

CROMWELL, CONN., June 22, 2015 – The first day of the 2015 Travelers Championship began with blue skies and sunshine. Officials from the State of Connecticut; Travelers; the Travelers Championship; and the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, kicked off opening ceremonies speaking to attendees about the tournament’s commitment to local charities and the community.

This year, as part of the tournament’s commitment to generating funds and awareness for charity, four young individuals from Connecticut who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in promoting charitable causes will serve as Honorary Co-Chairs. The 2015 Honorary Co-Chairs and their charitable initiatives are: Mackenzie Page – The Great Pumpkin Challenge; Chase Skrubis – Klubs for Kids; Ben Goldman – Ben Goldman’s Charity Corner; and Brittany Vose – Lustgarten Foundation 18-Hole Stroll. They joined officials at Opening Ceremonies, and Goldman and Skrubis gave the ceremonial first tee shot.

The Aetna Tournament Players Pro-Am also took place Monday. Players included PGA TOUR professionals and participants from the community. The Pro-Am was followed by a celebration in the Pro-Am tent on course.

Tomorrow’s agenda includes the 15 ½ contest, in which PGA TOUR players will have the chance to win $10,000 for the charity of their choice during the practice round; Operation Shower, a baby shower hosted for expectant military wives; and more.
