HARTFORD, Conn., June 18, 2015 – Actress and Hole in the Wall Gang Camp Celebrity Ambassador Bridget Moynahan will host the FML CPAS Celebrity Mini Golf Tournament on Wednesday, June 24, in the Farmington Bank Kids Zone within the MetroHartford Alliance Fan Zone, and will be emceed by local radio host Renee DiNino. Local media celebrities and UConn coaches will compete for a chance to win $5,000 for the charity of their choice.
“We are proud to host the FML CPAS Celebrity Mini Golf Tournament again this year,” said Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube. “This event allows for golfing and non-golfing celebrities to join forces and generate $5,000 for charity.”
The FML CPAS Mini Golf Tournament will be split into two shotgun times at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Teams will consist of threesomes where each winning team will be awarded $2,500 to donate to a charity of their choice. There will be bleachers and a video wall displaying the action for enhanced viewing for fans. Also, many of the holes have been redesigned to include special twists from tournament partners such as LEGO® and The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.
Members of the UConn Division of Athletics will participate, including Head Football Coach Bob Diaco; Head Women’s Basketball Coach Geno Auriemma; and Associate Head Women’s Basketball Coach Chris Dailey. Other participants include TV personalities from FOX CT, NBC Connecticut, WFSB-TV, and WTNH NEWS 8; radio personalities from iHeart Media,1029 The Whale, WTIC AM 1080; and representatives from The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.
Bridget Moynahan, star of the CBS hit drama, “Blue Bloods,” first captured the attention of audiences in Disney’s “Coyote Ugly.” She went on to star in numerous blockbuster films including the futuristic summer hit “I, Robot” with Will Smith, Touchstone Pictures’ “The Recruit,” “The Sum Of All Fears,” “Battle: Los Angeles,” and most recently in the movie “John Wick.” She is hosting the mini golf tournament in support of The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a charity beneficiary of the Travelers Championship that’s dedicated to providing “a different kind of healing” to seriously ill children and their families.
Local radio host Renee DiNino has been involved in the Celebrity Mini Golf Tournament since its inception in 2013.
She is the mid-day host on The River 105.9. Her show entertains listeners through the workday with lifestyle and Hollywood celebrity updates. Renee is also the Director of Community Affairs for iHeartMedia. She can be heard weekly on all eight iHeart Stations as the host of the 30-Community Access program.
This is the second consecutive year that the FML CPAS has sponsored the Celebrity Mini Golf Tournament. FML CPAS shares the same charitable vision as the Travelers Championship and wanted to activate their brand in a unique and fun way. Throughout the week, fans will also be able to use the FML CPAS mini golf course while at the Travelers Championship.
