Hartford, Conn., May 25, 2012 – The Travelers Championship is pleased to announce that best-selling author Anna Quindlen and accomplished model and actress Bridget Moynahan will headline the 2012 Women’s Day on Thursday, June 21, at TPC River Highlands. The fourth annual Women’s Day, sponsored by Travelers, features keynote speakers, networking, golf clinics, and more. Quindlen, who most recently wrote the well-received memoir “Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake,” will keynote the Women’s Day Breakfast, while Moynahan will be the keynote speaker for the Women’s Day Lunch.

“The Travelers Championship is committed to hosting special events throughout the week that the whole family can enjoy, and Women’s Day is a great way to encourage women who may never have thought of attending a golf tournament to join us for a day geared especially for them,” said Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube. “We are thrilled to welcome Anna Quindlen and Bridget Moynahan to Women’s Day to headline an impactful day of programming that will inspire and entertain women from all over the region.”

Quindlen is a renowned writer, having had success as a journalist, fiction and nonfiction novelist, and as a columnist for high-profile newspapers and magazines. She has written five best-selling novels, including “A Short Guide to a Happy Life,” which has sold more than a million copies. She previously worked at The New York Times, where she won a Pulitzer Prize for Commentary. She also worked for more than a decade at Newsweek, writing the popular bi-weekly column “Thinking Out Loud.”

Moynahan has been a model for more than two decades and began her illustrious acting career in 1999. She has appeared in several popular movies, including “I, Robot,” “Sex and the City,” “Coyote Ugly,” “Serendipity,” and “The Recruit.” Her most recent success was the blockbuster hit “Battle: Los Angeles,” where she starred alongside Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez. She currently stars in the CBS drama “Blue Bloods.”

“Travelers is proud to support an initiative like Women’s Day, which was created to broaden the audience of the Travelers Championship by offering activities that appeal to women whether or not they are fans of golf,” said Andy Bessette, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Travelers. “The tournament has been able to create a diverse range of activities and offer a great environment for women to network while supporting the tournament’s charities, and since its inception in 2009, Women’s Day continues to grow in popularity.”

The Women’s Day Breakfast will begin at 7 a.m. with networking. At 8 a.m., Quindlen will speak about her life and career and take questions from the audience. At noon, the Women’s Day Lunch program will begin. After the opening networking session, Moynahan will discuss her career and her support of The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. Tickets for the breakfast and lunch events will be sold separately and will go on sale on Tuesday, May 29, at 9:00 a.m. on TravelersChampionship.com. Women’s Day Breakfast with Anna Quindlen costs $35, while Women’s Day Lunch with Bridget Moynahan costs $50. Both tickets include a general admission ticket to the tournament as well.

In addition to the breakfast and lunch, all women who purchase a tournament ticket to the Travelers Championship for Thursday are welcome to take part in a golf clinic at the tournament’s practice facility, receive tours of the Golf Channel studio, preferred bleacher seating, and 10 percent off the official merchandise tent, and participate in one of the tours of the golf course, where a TPC River Highlands professional will show the best places to watch the tournament.

Travelers is once again the Presenting Sponsor for Women’s Day and additional sponsors include Tide and Venus as Supporting Sponsors, plus Red Thread and Hartford HealthCare as Event Partners. Proceeds from Women’s Day will benefit the charities of the Travelers Championship, including The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, which serves children suffering from cancer and other serious illnesses.

This year’s Travelers Championship field is scheduled to include defending champion Fredrik Jacobson, Masters champion Bubba Watson, Hunter Mahan, Matt Kuchar, Webb Simpson, Keegan Bradley, Padraig Harrington, Ian Poulter, Vijay Singh, Ryo Ishikawa, Patrick Cantlay and many others. The Travelers Championship will be held June 18 to 24 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn.
