HARTFORD, Conn., April 4, 2010 – Anthony Kim won the 2010 Shell Houston Open in a playoff on Sunday, giving him his third PGA TOUR victory and first since the 2008 AT&T National. Kim who has committed to the 2010 Travelers Championship, beat Vaughn Taylor on the first-playoff hole to earn the victory.

The 24-year-old Kim started the day tied for the lead at 10-under par and shot a two-under par 70 to earn a spot in the playoff. Kim had a slight miscue on the 72nd hole with a closing bogey, but quickly rebounded on the first playoff hole with a routine two-putt par from 30 feet to secure the victory.

In less than four seasons on the PGA TOUR, Kim has earned the reputation as one of the hottest young golfers by recording three victories, playing an instrumental role in the United States victory at the 2008 Ryder Cup and recording 18 top-10 finishes. He currently is ranked 4th in Scoring Average on the PGA TOUR with an adjusted average of 69.44.

“I’ve put in a lot of hard work, so I feel like when I’m out there, I know I’m going to do well,” said Kim. “Having that confidence really has propelled my game, I feel like, to a different level.”

Kim earned $1.044 million and 500 FedExCup points with the victory. His victory jumped him from 26th place to sole possession of second place in the current 2010 FedExCup standings. The win also catapulted Kim thirteen spots to place him third in the 2010 Ryder Cup Standings.

The Travelers Championship is one of Connecticut’s premier annual sporting events and is the PGA TOUR’s only early summer stop in the Northeast, which will be played June 21 – 27, 2010 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn.
