CROMWELL, Conn., Oct. 8, 2015 – The Travelers Championship announced today that it has generated more than $1.5 million for charity for the second consecutive year. The 2015 tournament generated a record $1.565 million for over 140 nonprofit organizations throughout the region. This year’s total also represents a milestone for the tournament, as the event has generated more than $10 million for local and regional charities since Travelers became title sponsor in 2007.

“Having surpassed $1.5 million for the second year in a row is an incredible achievement for the community,” said Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube. “The number of local and regional organizations we’re able to impact on a yearly basis with the help of programs like Birdies for Charity sponsored by CohnReznick is what makes the Travelers Championship so special.”

The Travelers Championship has a rich history of supporting the community and donates 100 percent of its net proceeds to charity, generating $33 million since its inception in 1952. In addition to funds produced during tournament week, the Travelers Championship offers several programs throughout the year, including Birdies for Charity and Chip in for Charity to increase its support of organizations that help those in need.

“When we decided to sponsor the tournament in 2007, one of our primary goals was to support the Connecticut community,” said Travelers Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Andy Bessette. “Now, nine years later, we are extremely proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish, having reached more than $10 million in charitable contributions.”

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is a major beneficiary of the tournament, and was recognized as the 2014 PGA TOUR Charity of the Year. As a part of the honor, the organization was awarded a $30,000 grant from the TOUR. The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp strives to offer a unique healing experience for children and families coping with diseases, and the grant will aid in supporting its various initiatives.

Preparation has already begun for the 2016 Travelers Championship, which will be held from August 1 to 7 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn. For more information, please visit www.TravelersChampionship.com.
