Internship Areas of Focus

As a tournament intern you will play a key role in assisting all areas of tournament management. Each student will be assigned to a particular staff member, but will likely work on a variety of all-encompassing projects. Areas of focus will include, but are not limited to, the descriptions below. Specific internship roles and responsibilities will be tailored to match intern skill sets with the sample areas of focus listed below.

Sponsors & Sales – Collaborates with sponsor relations and business development teams in tracking of tournament sponsors, execution of sponsor deliverables and working with ticket interns for fulfillment of sponsor ticket packages. This area requires training in database tools including Kore and Archtics.

Volunteers – Assists with the organizing of the volunteer program, which consists of 4,000 volunteers and the executive committee leadership team. This area is responsible for communicating with volunteer chairs and volunteers on a regular basis and coordinate the management of the Volunteer Villa during tournament week.

Special Events – Assists with the planning and organization of 30+ special events throughout the year. Additional responsibilities would include distributing, gathering and organizing all event checklists and timelines and will be trained in the tournament’s CAD & Design Programs.

Community Relations – Supports the management of the tournament fundraising and volunteer programs by organizing registrations, communication and website creation. During the summer, this area requires a strong problem solver that serves as a greeter and is responsible for troubleshooting for all guests in the tournament office at the tournament site. Administrative duties for this area include management of the informational phone lines and emails.

Tickets – Manages the ticket distribution and digital ticketing support process, including all corporate hospitality and sponsor ticket packages, as well as general admission packages. Coordinate management of Will Call with volunteer chair and assist with gate operations. This area requires training in database management tools, including Archtics.

Logistics – Assists in set-up and maintenance of text notification system and vendor database. Coordinate and communicate with various tournament vendors on scheduling, credentials, deliveries and supply needs. Be a main point of contact for tournament construction vendors and tournament deliveries. Assist in development of work plans to be used for set-up of tournament site. This area requires training in a support capacity on tournament’s CAD, scheduling and 24/7 software systems & includes administrative support for the operations team.

Media – Assists media team with pre-tournament materials, media credentialing process and photo ID program. Help manage the Media Center and interview schedules during tournament week.

Operations – This area provides a hands-on and administrative experience through supporting various tasks regarding the overall tournament set-up and breakdown. Assists with the coordination of various deliveries relating to tournament set up such as furniture, signage, radios, etc. Must be at least 21 years old for this role.

Pro-Ams – Supports the execution of the two on-site Pro-Ams, as well as several off-site Pro-Ams during tournament week. Responsibilities include collection of participant information, communication with participants, assists with shopping spree vendors and management of caddie credential distribution.
