REACH CONCERTS SERIES ANNOUNCES BANDS FOR TOURNAMENT WEEK

EDDIE MONEY TO PERFORM ON WEDNESDAY AND HUEY LEWIS AND THE NEWS ON SATURDAY DURING THE WEEK OF THE TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP

Hartford, Conn., May 10, 2011– Travelers Championship officials today announced a partnership with The REACH Foundation to host the REACH Concert Series during tournament week. Eddie Money will perform on Wednesday, June 22, while Huey Lewis and the News will perform on Saturday, June 25. The concerts will begin around 7 p.m. – right after the last golfer of the day finishes his round – and will be held in the Subway Fan Zone located in the center of the course.

“With the support of The REACH Foundation, we are excited to announce these great artists coming to our event in 2011,” said Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube. “Huey Lewis and the News and Eddie Money have been entertaining fans for decades and we are excited to have them join us this June. In addition to the music, we look forward to building a strong partnership with The REACH Foundation, which will have a direct impact on children throughout our community.”

Fans can attend the REACH Concert Series by purchasing an Any One Day Ticket, which gives fans access to the tournament and all of the entertainment throughout the day. The Travelers Championship and The Reach Foundation are holding the concerts to raise money and awareness to support charitable organizations and programs focusing on children in need. In addition to its own programs, The REACH Foundation also assists other local and national charities.  These include: The Make-A-Wish Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Petit Family Foundation, YMCA, Girls Scouts, Boys & Girls Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

“It is a real opportunity for The REACH Foundation to be partnering with the Travelers Championship, and bringing these two legends of rock to the tournament.  Music has a way of delivering messages to people that often times the spoken or written word cannot”, said Mark Wilson, President and Co-Founder of The REACH Foundation.  “It is my hope that through this partnership with the Travelers Championship, we can utilize this concert series to deliver the message of children’s needs while providing exciting post-play entertainment.”

Huey Lewis and the News have been rock n’ roll stars for more than three decades. The band has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, thanks to classic Top Ten Hits that include: “Heart of Rock & Roll,” “Stuck with You,” I want a New Drug,” “If this is it,” “Hip to be Square,” and “Workin’ for a Livin.” The group also wrote “The Power of Love” for the Academy Award-winning movie “Back to the Future.” Huey Lewis and the News has also won two Grammy Awards.

Eddie Money has been making music for nearly 25 years. He’s made four platinum albums and is best known for hit songs “Baby Hold On,” “Two Tickets to Paradise,” “Think I’m in Love” and “Take me Home Tonight.”

The REACH Concert Series is just one of the many featured events for the 2011 Travelers Championship, which will be held at TPC River Highlands, June 20-26, 2011.  Some of the PGA TOUR’s most notable players have committed to compete in the event, including defending champion Bubba Watson, Hunter Mahan, Vijay Singh, Anthony Kim, Padraig Harrington, John Daly and more. About The REACH Foundation
The REACH Foundation was founded by Mark and Wendy Wilson in 2000 to help children in need – physically, socially, and financially. The REACH Foundation was originally established to financially aid educational scholarships, continued education and training for educators, unique and beneficial educational programs, and programs that encourage social and civic responsibility in and out of the classroom. However, since its inception, the focus of REACH has expanded to include children with physical, social and financial issues.  The primary mission of the Foundation is to reach out to young people in need and to provide, or assist in providing, programs to better their environment.  The Foundation’s mission is simple, “If in only one life, make a difference.”

“The Reach Foundation, Travelers Championship and YOU. The start of something big!”
