COUNTRY DUO BIG & RICH AND ROCK GROUP
GIN BLOSSOMS TO HEADLINE POWERSTATION EVENTS CONCERT SERIES AT 2016 TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP

HARTFORD, Conn., June 17, 2016 – The Travelers Championship today announced that country duo Big & Rich and the rock band Gin Blossoms will headline the Powerstation Events Concert Series at this year’s tournament. Big & Rich will perform Thursday night and the Gin Blossoms will take the stage Saturday night. Both concerts will begin at approximately 7 p.m. — after the last golfer finishes his round — in the MetroHartford Alliance Fan Zone located near the center of the course. Fans can attend the Powerstation Events Concert Series by purchasing an Any One Day Ticket, which provides fans access to the tournament and all of that day’s festivities.

Composed of guitarists and songwriters John Rich and Big Kenny Alphi, Big & Rich established themselves as country music game changers in 2004 with their triple-platinum album, “Horse of a Different Color,” which included the hit song “Save a Horse [Ride a Cowboy].” Their newest project, “Gravity,” has propelled them to even greater heights, with “Look at You” and “Run Away With You” securing back-to-back top-10 hits for the first time in their career, while their current single, “Lovin’ Lately” featuring Tim McGraw, continues to climb the charts.

The Gin Blossoms, an Arizona-native rock band formed in 1987, blends a variety of classic rock influences like The Beatles and The Byrds with their own high-energy pop style. Big hits such as “Hey Jealousy,” “Found Out About You,” “Til I Hear It From You” and others ascended the charts on the Billboard Hot 100. Their 1996 album, “Congratulations I’m Sorry,” reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200 fueled by the top-five single, “Follow You Down.” The album’s next single, “As Long As It Matters,” earned the Gin Blossoms a Grammy nomination for “Best Performance by a Duo or Group.” The Gin Blossoms have sold over 10 million records and currently perform over 100 shows a year.

“In our fifth year as title sponsor of the Powerstation Events Concert Series at the Travelers Championship, we feel a strong sense of commitment and pride in the success and mission of the tournament,” said Al Vagnini, founder and president of Powerstation Events. “Working with our partners at the Travelers Championship offers us an opportunity to support dozens of charities impacted by the tournament, as well as to do what we love in producing a world-class experience for Connecticut music lovers and golf fans.”

The Travelers Championship will take place August 1–7 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. Tickets are on sale now at www.TravelersChampionship.com. This year’s field includes defending champion Bubba Watson and 2007 champion Hunter Mahan, as well as Paul Casey, Patrick Reed and major winners Zach Johnson, Louis Oosthuizen, Keegan Bradley and Webb Simpson.
