CHRIS BERMAN SITS DOWN WITH DEFENDING CHAMP MARC LEISHMAN

Marc Leishman concluded a month of solid play in which he finished tied for 4th at The Masters and tied for 8th at THE PLAYERS Championship by returning to the site of his first PGA TOUR victory, the Travelers Championship.

Leishman was back in Cromwell for the 2013 Media Day at TPC River Highlands. At Media Day, new details for the 2013 tournament were released and Leishman spoke about last year’s victory with Chris Berman of ESPN and more than 20 other national and local media outlets. During the press conference, the reigning champ spoke with Berman about the memories that re-emerged on his drive into Cromwell. He spoke about his long wait in the clubhouse after posting a final round 62 that finally culminated in him being declared the winner. Leishman mentioned how he keeps his Travelers Championship trophy in his living room at home in Virginia, and he told of a heartwarming picture he took with his then infant son sitting atop the trophy which he cherishes.

Chris Berman concluded the interview by welcoming the native Australian to Connecticut and telling him that he will always be part of the family in the community. In the afternoon, members of the media set out to play a round at beautiful TPC River Highlands, complete with a chance to take a shot at The Umbrella at 15 ½ – a golf green in the shape of the iconic Travelers red umbrella floating on the pond between holes 15 and 16.  Prizes from Titleist were awarded to 1st Place Low Gross, and 1st Place Low Net:
